Ladies who are non-members can attend up to two meetings in a year before deciding whether to join the W.I. Visitors are charged £3 towards the cost of the evening. Should you decide to become a full member, the 2023 subscription from 1st April 2023 to 31st March 2024 will be £46.
We usually start our meeting by singing Jerusalem, followed by a welcome from our President. The minutes of the previous meeting are then read. The President will then go through any WI notices. These can include courses or events being organised by Northamptonshire Federation of WIs or may be about up and coming events within Barby that the WI may be involved with. The speaker for the evening will be welcomed and give an enjoyable talk, demonstration or slide show. The evening concludes with coffee and cake.
Throughout this year we have had an interesting and varied selection of speakers. In June we held our annual Pétanque and BBQ in the Millennium Orchard and in August went to The Countryman at Staverton for a meal.
We recently had Afternoon Tea at Kilsby WI. In November we held a Bingo Night which was well supported by many villagers.
We have continued to support Daventry Food Bank and make Cakes for the Freezer for Cynthia Spencer Hospice in Northampton once a year.
2022 Winning team of the 2022 Pétanque Competition being presented with their trophies by the President, Mary Evans
The winners were Maureen, Carol, Doris and Rosemary
In November 2017 we celebrated our 90th anniversary and in October 2015 we held a celebration meal for 100 years of the National W.I.
